Valentine

A sweet heart rose,
and chocolate covered cherry globes.

Morning kiss on a dreaming brow.
Coffee served in a favorite cup,

All day in bed and don't get up.
Opening romantic gifts
with soft familiar kissing lips
and a twinkle in our eye.

Dreaming our lives away
for a flower bought at Safeway;
for chocolates not as good as they look.

Searching for innocence someone else took.

Coffee only adds to unrest,
laying in bed, holding our chests
thinking of things to fill a void
of when a girl met a boy,
Kissed his lips and hoped for love,
A kiss that he thought nothing of.

Twinkles in our eyes these days
Are tears held in to hide our pain.
Intensely wishing to be just fine
and dreaming of a Valentine.
