Princess Grapefruit

Jenny loved to eat grapefruits,
She'd eat 5 - 10 a day.
She loved their sweet-sour taste,
and getting juice all over her face.

She liked the yellow ones with the pink middle.
It matched her blonde hair and pink dresses a little.

She'd cut one open, dissect all the sections,
Gulp them down and avoid seed consumptions.

Who knew that one day a seed she'd ingest
that would sprout in the middle of her chest?

Yes, right next to her heart
began a grapefruit-tree start!

The more water she drank only helped that seed grow!
From her chest to her belly, on down to her toes!

She walked outside into the sun.
Right then and there her roots had begun.

They shot into the ground so she could no longer move.
Her arms became branches, her blonde hair did too!

She sat all alone until the spring.
The neighbors would comment,
"What a beautiful thing!"

When summer came her grapefruits did too,
As well as the birds and wandering fools.

She'd watch them enjoy their sweet-sour taste,
and get juice all over their face.

It was times like these she wished she could speak:

Close Your Mouths! Shut Your Beaks!
Beware of the seeds and what they might do!
What happened to me could happen to you!

As she watched them one by one,
turn into what she'd become,
it rattled her to the core
of the tree ( that little girl).

She shook with all her might
'til she no longer felt trapped or tight,
and opened the side of her tree.
Then she jumped out, and set everyone free!
