A Thousand Kisses

by Kathryn Elizabeth

A mother and father
Gave birth to a beautiful daughter.
And showered her with many kisses.

It was un-mistakably seen
That she was the most kissable thing
As they covered her from head to foot,
Counting with each kiss they'd put.

They'd start from below
With one kiss for each toe,
And 20 on each lovely foot.
20 more on her knees they'd put
300 kisses on her chubby legs and bum,
200 more on her round little tum.
One more kiss for a finger each,
100 for both her arms that could reach.
100 for her chest and chin
As she lay there with a happy grin
Upon her cheerful face
Where 200 more kisses were perfectly placed.

A thousand kisses it would be
To cover this child's entirety.
Blessings and magical wishes
Came with each one of a thousand kisses.

Mom and dad used this time well,
Giving her kisses before she could squirm or yell.
Before an age when she'll say "No", "yuck", or "eeewww"
Or when kissing simply will not do.
So they'd giggle and say how much they'd adore,
And then they'd kiss a thousand times more.
